Artifact 1 - Genocide Chart
In Global Studies I completed an eight stages of Genocide chart for the movie Sometimes in April. This was an opportunity for me to practice my Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skill which allows me to answer questions with reasonable answers and solve problems efficiently. I used this skill while completing this chart because I efficiently listed reasonable incidents in the movie which describe each stage of the Rwandan Genocide. While I did a good job with this skill because all of the examples I gave clearly show each stage of the genocide, I need to improve in the area of being more specific and getting more examples of each stage of the genocide. I can achieve this by going back to each stage and think about more examples given in the movie. I can also rewatch small parts in the movie and add more detail to my chart.
Artifact 2 - Religious Forum Questions
In global studies I completed a question packet which required me to think of questions I was going to ask the religious representatives. This was an opportunity for me to practice my critical thinking and problem solving skills because I had to think carefully about what questions I was going to ask and problem solve when I was not sure what to ask one of the representatives. I did a good job with this skill because I was able to think up two questions to ask for each religion. I have improved in the area of being specific. I have achieved this by thoroughly thinking out each question I was going to ask.
Artifact 3 - Whats in the Bottle
For my third artifact showing critical thinking and problem solving, I identified different elements and compounds by doing multiple experiments to figure out how each element acted . This skill means the ability to solve problems using one’s understanding of the complication and skills of conceptualizing, applying, and analyzing all the information. This assignment demonstrates those skills because I was using information I gathered about a chemical and used my background knowledge to solve which element(s) they were. I could improve in this skill by exposing myself to a more wide variety of problems in order to be prepared and experienced in solving problems with critical thinking.
